A PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILL BUILDING WORKSHOP
Approach:
Following trageted brief lectures, participants will be required to complete a series of real-world workshop exercises to develop and use the concepts of WBS and Precedence Diagramming to assure skill building and successful knowledge transfer has been accomplished.
Who Should Attend:
1. PMP Wannabees who need Professional Contact Hours
2. PMPs who need Professional Development Units
3. Anyone involved in PM who wants to significantly improve their performance
Although PDUs will be awarded, this workshop is designed for PMPs and non-PMPs alike and should be attended by PMPs searching for cost-effective PDUs, PMP wannabees preparing for certification, anyone who wants to improve their project management skills and the managers of all of the above!
Creating a NO “BS” WBS – Building a Solid Foundation
Learning Objectives:
Participants will learn how to:
1. Use the “process” for developing a meaningful, deliverable oriented , work structure that will improve scope definition, progress measurability, management reporting and impact analysis
2. Establish completion criteria that eliminates or significantly reduces subjective assessment of work status and adds substantial value to the “estimating” process
3. Determine what level of granulation/decomposition of the WBS adds the most value to the PM process
4. Establish a numerical numbering system that will allow their automated system to create a plethora of decision support information
5. Use the WBS as the basis for managing scope creep throughout the project life cycle
Using the Precedence Diagramming Technique to Create a Bar Chart...on STEROIDS
Leaning Objectives:
Students will learn how to:
1. Create a realistic work flow diagram using the output-input relationships between the WBS Work Packages
2. Capitalize on the variability of potential Work Package logic sequence to optimize time and resource availability
3. Use the science of Critical Path and the power of the Float Paths in executing a project in a multiple project/shared resource environment
4. Convert work progress status inputs into an uncanny ability to determine long term impacts of short term events
5. Analyze and reduce the impact of project timeline impacts resulting from resource skill set variations due to unavailability

Instructions for obtaining Certificates of Completion through our automated system will be distributed at the end of the workshop. These automated certificates will contain all of the information you will need to register your PDUs through PMI.
